Pag Island lies off the Adriatic coast north of Zadar in north Dalmatia, has a length of 58.25 km, and with an area of 284.18 km 2 is the fifth largest island in the Adriatic Sea. The island's two largest settlements are its same named capital Pag, and Novalja. Pag Island, one of the jewels of the Croatian Adriatic coast, is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and its delicious sheep's cheese, roast lamb, high quality fish, wine and spirits. The basilica of St. Mary can be seen in the main square of Pag Town, and it really is worth a visit. Founded in the 15th Century the basilica is a cultural monument of especial architectural beauty.
